"Somewhere"

Written by David Patrick Bryan & Melody Bryan Lendl

Somewhere, I stay in yesterday, and there is where I stay a lot,
I often go into the woods, "I go to where I'm not".

I come upon a shallow creek, Clear water ... all alone,
I think that I'll, take a chance, and hop from stone to stone.

The sun, it's shinning through the trees, It warms my weary mind,
A lovely day is just ahead, gloomy thoughts left behind.

The air is gentle, cool and clear, a simple breeze about,
I stop to listen to the leaves, brush away, my doubts.

In this forest of the trees, each one does surrounds me,
All are different, yet all the same, for none could ever flee.

So all the trees go nowhere, but up for all to see,
They seem to be, quite content, being all they can be.

Weary I find I need to rest, mindless is all I've got,
Slumber finds me, I must confess, "I go to where I'm not".
(pause)

But now, oh my I'm in the sky, I see the world below,
I didn't know that I could fly, yet with a thought I go!

So pretty the tops of trees and hills, all covered in snow,
It must be cold, you'd think I'd freeze, but I'm fine don't you know?

I'm going higher, further beyond, with passion burning hot,
To see the stars, Jupiter and Mars, "I go to where I'm not!"

But then, the lights of this cosmic sea,
Those very lights, are growing thin,
I feel a paralyzing force, a force that's pulling me,
I try to struggle to keep a grip, of where I've always been.

It's like I'm holding onto, a crystal candle chandelier,
And as each, and every candle dies, I fight to endure
Oh I'm in awe, and I'm afraid, anyone would be in fear?
For this darkest darkness, engulfs all, way too fast and sure,

Then faster and faster and faster I go,
As I ride this fatal merry-go-round,
Down deeper and darker into this hole,
No light, no space, no thought, no sound.

(all stops)

And then ... I turn around ... I see ...

That a small speckle of light endured,
A spark of life, light-years away,
Maybe I'm crazy, but I am sure,
I'll make it there, sometime today.

Oh and my mind is filling, with thoughts so sweet,
Thoughts that tells me I'm no longer alone,
And before my thoughts, become complete,
I find myself, where I feel at home.

It's so different here, than where I came from,
With its lights of music, and notes of grace,
It's golden streets, of laughter and fun,
Everyone's in love, in this wonderful place.

We are a part of all that is,
And all, are parts, of who we are,
We've reached for love since we were kids,
We need not stop, we come too far.

And yes, we do live forever,
With all strain and pain forgot,
For now we know that we will never,
Need to go to where we're not...
